Do you remember the Chocolate Mug Cake  I made some time ago? Well, I called my friend  Laura  the other time and she told me that she had made this cake many, many times since then and she asked if I could make a mug cake without chocolate. I said to her that I was going to try and experiment a little bit and the results would be posted.

So, I did experiment and I did come up with two very tasty variations on this. The one is with orange flavor and the other one is with honey and cinnamon, nutmeg and ground cloves. It never ceases to amaze me how easy, quick and tasty this cake is! Never. It took me practically 12 minutes to make both of them and we devoured them in less than five lol! What can I say? Even though you know very well I am a big, or better say, huge fan of chocolate, I loved both of them  as much for their taste, as for their easiness and quickness in making them.  They can also become handy when unexpected guests come to your house. You can easily prepare them for the exact number of your friends and serve them in the mug. It is so much fun and there are no leftovers. And if anyone asks for a second mug, well it only takes 6 minutes to prepare it! I am telling you it can save your day!

If you crave for some sweet, but you are bored or you don’t have the time to make it, as it often happens in my case, do try these two. You can play with flavors just as I did. If you follow the basic ingredients, then you can try any flavor you like. It is easy, cheap and so much fun to play with this cake!

Orange-Flavored Mug cake

Ingredients

¼ cup flour + 2 tbsp

5 tbsp sugar

1 egg

3 tbsp milk

3 tbsp vegetable oil

¼ tsp baking powder

Dash of salt

½ tsp orange extract or if you have orange juice add 1 tsp

1 tsp orange zest

Instructions

Put all ingredients in the mug and whisk until are incorporated.

Place in the microwave and cook in high for three minutes.

Remove, let cool and decorate with caster sugar or cocoa powder.

 

 

Spiced Up Honey Mug Cake

Ingredients

¼ flour +2 tbsp

3 tbsp sugar

3 tbsp honey

1 egg

3 tbsp milk

3 tbsp vegetable oil

¼ tsp baking powder

Dash of salt

Dash of vanilla

1/8 nutmeg

1/8 cinnamon

1/8 ground cloves

1 tbsp chocolate chips or chocolate truffle

Caster sugar for dusting

Instructions

Put all ingredients in the mug and whisk until are incorporated.

Place in the microwave and cook in high for three minutes.

Remove, let cool and decorate with caster sugar.
