Very Chocolate Cake

Ingredients/ Συστατικά
  • ½ cup (80 gr.) packed all purpose flour
  • ½ cup (90 gr.) packed self-rising flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 120 gr. / 4 oz. unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 200 gr. / 7 oz. chocolate 60% cocoa melted and cooled
For the Ganache
  • 200 gr. / 7 oz. chocolate 60% cocoa
  • 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions/ Εκτέλεση
  1. Preheat oven to 175C / 350F.
  2. Butter a round pan 23cm / 9 in.
  3. Sift together the flour and baking powder.
  4. Set aside.
  5. In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the butter and sugar until fluffy.
  6. Add the egg and continue beating for a minute and then add the vanilla extract and beat again for a minute or two.
  7. On low speed add half of the flour mixture and beat until incorporated.
  8. Then, add the milk and mix until just blended.
  9. Add the remaining flour and mix again only until it is incorporated.
  10. Blend in the melted chocolate.
  11. Pour the batter to thepan and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until the knife comes out clean.
  12. Put aside to cool while making the ganache.
For the Ganache
  1. Warm the heavy cream until it starts boiling.
  2. Remove from stove and pour it on the chocolate.
  3. Let stand for a minute and then whisk until chocolate is completely melted.
  4. Take the cake place it in a rack having underneath it parchment paper and pour the chocolate on top of the cooled cake.
  5. Let the ganache stabilize and serve.
