When I started blogging five years ago, I had no idea where that thing would take me. One lesson I’ve learned during my living years is that life has its way of taking you to footpaths that you wouldn’t expect.

I have lived a very rich in experiences life. I had really good moments and very ugly situations I had to deal with; both of them bequeathed me with priceless experience and lessons. In one of these difficult moments in my life, I decided to start blogging.

At first, cooking and writing about it was some kind of psychotherapy for me, distracting me from my difficult everyday life. Nevertheless, as I was walking this path, I slowly, slowly started to fall in love with my kitchen all over again. Through the years, apart from cooking, baking and writing, I realized I started loving photography as well, a field completely unknown and unexploited to me. Also, I was able to put in good use my English, a language that I’ve learned from a very young age, and accompanied me through my years of study here in Greece and also in the US where I continued my education.

But most of and above all, blogging opened to me a whole new world of people, I wouldn’t have met otherwise. It is widely claimed that technology isolates people and creates lonely humans. Well, I think that depends heavily on the usage of technology. In my case, internet brought closer to me fine people, living all over the world, having the same interests and similar lives. I became part of a community that is so warm and open hearted that I wouldn’t have imagined it.

I would like to thank each and every one of you who visit this small part of this ocean called The Net and read my posts and what I am cooking and baking. I thank also all of you, who either leave or do not leave a comment, but still spend some of your time here. I am very happy I “met” all of you and I am even happier when I see you here and when I visit your blogs and have the chance to see what is cooking at your homes.

For all these reasons I am hosting two giveaways, one that is for all my friends worldwide and another on for my Greek friends, who have increased considerably the last year.

Το CulinaryFlavors φέτος κλείνει πέντε χρόνια παρουσίας στο διαδίκτυο. Όταν το ξεκίνησα δεν μπορούσα να φανταστώ που θα με οδηγούσε αυτό το εγχείρημα. Μέσα σ’αυτά τα χρόνια γνώρισα ανθρώπους που δεν υπήρχε περίπτωση να γνωρίσω, έμαθα για τις συνήθειες και τα φαγητά άλλων χωρών, διαφορετικών εθνοτήτων και νοοτροπιών. «Μπήκα στα σπίτια» εκατοντάδων ανθρώπων και μοιράστηκα μαζί τους εκτός από το φαγητό τους, τις χαρές και τις λύπες τους. Ανέπτυξα σχέσεις με ανθρώπους άγνωστους σ’εμένα που όμως μοιραζόμαστε όλοι κάτι κοινό, την αγάπη μας για καλό και ποιοτικό φαγητό. Ξεκίνησα γράφοντας αγγλικά γιατί ήθελα να γνωρίσω στον υπόλοιπο κόσμο ότι ελληνικό φαγητό δεν είναι μόνο το σουβλάκι και ο μουσακάς. Επίσης επειδή σπούδασα στο εξωτερικό ήθελα να κρατήσω επαφή με τους φίλους που έκανα εκεί και με τη γλώσσα, που τώρα που ζω στην Ελλάδα δεν έχω την ευκαιρία να τη χρησιμοποιώ τόσο συχνά.

Ανοίγοντας όμως λογαριασμό στο facebook απέκτησα και πολλούς Έλληνες φίλους και φίλες και σας ευχαριστώ όλους για την ζεστασιά με την οποία αγκαλιάζετε τα άρθρα μου και τις συνταγές μου. Θέλω να ξέρετε, και αυτό το αναφέρω γιατί κάποιοι λανθασμένα θεωρούν ότι δεν είναι σωστό να γράφω στα αγγλικά, ότι δεν το κάνω από σνομπισμό ή κάποιου άλλου είδους ιδιοτροπία. Ο λόγος είναι ότι μέχρι πρόσφατα οι άνθρωποι που επισκέπτονταν το Culinary Flavors ήταν στην πλειοψηφία τους αλλοδαποί. Όμως η παρέα εδώ στην Ελλάδα μεγάλωσε και αυτό όχι μόνο δεν το παραβλέπω, αλλά ήδη έχω ξεκινήσει την κατασκευή και ελληνικού ιστολογίου το οποίο θα απευθύνεται στους φίλους και φίλες εδώ στην Ελλάδα. Όμως επειδή εργάζομαι και είμαι και μαμά, το δουλεύω σιγά σιγά και θα γίνει με τον καινούριο χρόνο.

Σήμερα λοιπόν και με την ευκαιρία των πέντε χρόνων blogging, κάνω δύο διαγωνισμούς, έναν για τους αλλοδαπούς φίλους και έναν για τους Έλληνες.
