Waffles with Melted Chocolate

Home / Breakfast / Waffles with Melted Chocolate
As I am still in my mood for chocolate, to be honest I am always in the mood for chocolate, anyway, as I was saying, I thought of sharing another sweet with you. I found this recipe on King Arthur’s Baking Banter and they immediately spoke to my chocolate heart.
I knew a priori that they would be a big hit among my family members; they come with chocolate, so I was sure. I made them not for breakfast, but for an afternoon snack. Needless to say, after an hour there was not even a crumb left. I was licking my plate because I got to eat only one. You guess of course who where the two that are them all!
I haven’t used my waffles machine for a long time and that was a good chance to dust the thing and just amortize a little bit of its value.
I think they were excellent. I am keeping this for sure and I will definitely make them again. These waffles are great for breakfast, but also for anytime you need something sweet. You can add chocolate as I did, but you can pour honey, maple syrup or fruits or marmalade. Anything your heart and appetite desire. I made couple of changes to the recipe, so if you need the original one, just drop to their blog and take a look.

Waffles with Melted Chocolate
Ingredients
1 ½ cups lukewarm milk
6 tbsp melted margarine
1 tbsp honey
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ tsp instant yeast
1 ½ tsp baking powder

For the ganache
90 gr./ 3 oz. milk chocolate
140 gr. / 5 oz. heavy cream

Instructions

Put the liquids first in the mixer bowl.
Add the dry ingredients to them and stir in slow speed for a minute until everything is incorporated.
If there are lumps that is fine, just let them live, they won’t cause any problems.
Let the mixture rest for half an hour and then preheat the waffle iron.
I have a waffle iron that makes waffles as four hearts the one next to the other, isn’t it romantic? Of course when I bought it I didn’t even know that, it was just on sales so I bought it.
Anyway, the quantity necessary for my waffle iron, so as to make these cute little hearts, is ½ cup of the batter.
You just let them take a nice golden brown color and remove them.
I placed them on my oven’s rack so as not to get soggy.
If you have any left which I pretty much doubt, you store them in the fridge and just half an hour before serving them again put them in a preheated oven at 175° C  / 350° F for 5 minutes or until they become crispy again.
I made a chocolate ganache by heating the heavy cream just before it starts to boil and then pour it on the chocolate. Mix until the chocolate melts and serve over the waffles.
Total pleasure, I am telling you. Even at this moment when I am writing this I am drooling.
